Colchester Borough

The Colchester Borough Council area is split between three different local parties, who work together to try and deliver a better borough: ourselves, Colchester Lib Dems and Braintree & Witham Lib Dems. We work in most of the rural wards of Colchester Borough Council, with local election results positioning us as the clear opposition to the Conservatives in the area. The council itself is currently run by a Lib Dem-led administration, re-elected in May 2016. Each ward has three councillors, elected in thirds for a four year term, and the next election is due in May 2018.

Our area consists of the following wards (if you're unsure which ward you live in, please use this map):

We also campaign in the Essex County Council divisions which cover these areas.

Liberal Youth

Colchester is home to two branches of Liberal Youth, the section of the party for members under 26, or in further or higher education. Both branches work closely together to carry out campaigns and social events.

Colchester Liberal Youth

There is a branch of Liberal Youth in Colchester, carrying out a range of social events and campaigns. This includes members from the North East Essex Lib Dems area. For more details, see their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

University of Essex Liberal Democrats

There is also a branch of Liberal Youth at the university, which was re-established in 2015. For more details, see their entry on the students' union's website. They can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.

In addition, there are currently a number of young members on our Executive Committee, including the local party secretary.
